WELCOME TO RICHARDSON MARINE

The voyage of Richardson Marine began with a lifelong love of boats, fishing, diving, and the South-West Victorian coastline. Founder Ed Richardson’s passion for the ocean started young, but it was over the past 20 years that he turned it into a craft. After qualifying as an aluminium fabricator and honing his skills in South Australia building respected plate alloy boats, Ed returned home to Warrnambool — and Richardson Marine was born.

What began as a personal goal to build a boat tough enough for the Southern Ocean has grown into a business renowned for truly one-of-a-kind, fully customised plate aluminium boats and trailers, each designed for strength, quality, and performance in unpredictable local conditions. Ed still tests new ideas himself, ensuring every innovation that reaches a customer’s boat has been proven on the water.

From this dedication came the  Seacruiser  range — a natural evolution of Richardson Marine’s custom builds, offering proven hull designs with the same flexibility for custom fit-outs and a relentless focus on build quality.

As the sole  Suzuki Marine  dealer in the region, Richardson Marine proudly supplies and services “The Ultimate Outboard Motor,” and operates a full-service workshop covering all makes and models. From repowers and electronics fit-outs to anchor winches, hardtops, and aluminium fabrication, every detail is handled in-house by a passionate, skilled team.

Richardson Marine also partners with leading brands  StabicraftQuintrex, and  Polycraft , carefully chosen for their performance, safety, and suitability to South-West conditions. The business is also a proud Garmin Marine specialist, offering cutting-edge electronics and hands-on support from a team who use the products themselves.

While the Stabicraft range features some smaller, sub-5m models, the boats that have really taken the South-West Victorian market by storm have been the "Supercab " models from 5.6m and up, which offer protection from the elements via their hardtop, unrivalled stability and safety, whilst incremental improvements in their pontoon design give a ride quality that has to be experienced to be believed. They do say the Kiwis have welding ability ingrained in their DNA, and it’s difficult to argue against this when you see the workmanship in a Stabicraft boat.

In 2021, Richardson Marine added Quintrex to their lineup due to popular demand. Quintrex sits on a 75 year strong history of boat building in Australia. The reputation built by Quintrex over the years has been legendary. Quintrex offers a massive range of boats, from tiny three metre tinnies to seven metre aluminium beasts. Start of the art technology and innovation has brought Quintrex to the front line of hull development in 2021. The range of Quintrexs at Richardson Marine has proved incredibly popular, with an extensive and varied range on display.

Garmin Marine  are a world-leading marine electronics brand, their quality and fierce quest to constantly develop and improve the technologies available to boaters and be a market leader in this field, has meant we have happily chosen them as our sole supplier of marine electronics. Our team are all happily running Garmin electronics in all their boats, and as such are able and willing to help our customers get the most out of theirs. Garmin’s slogan is "The power of simple ", and while today’s technology in some of the units is mind-blowing, the actual user interface is very "layman-friendly ".

Richardson Marine's choice of trailers is  Easytow Boat Trailers ; a fellow regional Victorian brand specialising in premium custom trailers since 1965. Using only high quality components (including NSK bearings, Australian milled steel, Fulton & Alko components) and refusing to cut corners, each trailer is CAD designed using a series of very specific and precise hull measurements. Our customers have trialled and tested Easytow trailers in the harshest conditions right across the country, and we have nothing but praise for the product!

In addition to first-class boating service and sales, Richardson Marine is home to  The Tackle Shack —the south-west’s go-to destination for fishing tackle, bait, ice, and accessories. Nothing beats local knowledge, and our team has it in spades. Just like our customers, we live and breathe fishing, and we’re here to share that passion. Whether you’re trolling offshore for 150kg tuna or hiking up the Merri River chasing trout, The Tackle Shack caters to every style of local fishing.

We’re also proud to stock the region’s largest range of Yeti drinkware, apparel, and outdoor gear, a brand that continues to grow in popularity season after season. You'll find a wide range of Garmin marine and freshwater electronics, with staff who know how to finely tune your unit to achieve the best results. Our fishing range is expansive, covering all budgets and fishing styles; with dozens, if not hundreds of brands in stock. Some of the favourites include Daiwa, Shimano, Penn, Berkley, Nomad Design, Desolve, Tackle Tactics, Wilson Fishing, AFN, Bonze, Spinwright, Hurricane, Black Magic, Tasline, Samaki, Ecogear, Nories, Decoy, Fish Arrow, Keitech, Venom Rods, Abu Garcia, Samurai, Millerods, 13 Fishing, Rapala, Jaks, Mackenzie, Gaff Mann, Tony's Tackle, Megabass, OSP, Balista - and much more.

At Richardson Marine, every build, service, and product comes from a shared passion for the water. The close-knit team are all fishers and boaters themselves, dedicated to helping customers achieve their on-water dreams — no matter how big or small.

We look forward to continuing the journey — and hope you’ll join the convoy.
